American Music Awards Best Dressed

, By: Ashley Cushon

Renowned for being one of Americas most anticipated music award shows, the American Music Awards offers audiences the latest and greatest in tunes and attire from the red carpet to the stage. To keep you up to speed on what's current in men's formal wear, we've compiled a list of our Top 10 favorite looks from the evening!

10. Matthew Morris

This broadway gone small screen actor was suited up on the night of the AMAs in a one button windowpane suit. However dashing this musical master may be, we had to dock him some points for the puddling hemline on his pants. Overall, he's working the ash gray!

9. Gavin Degraw

This New York based rock star killed the hipster chic look in a burgundy, double-button suit and black fedora. He topped off this look with a tonal burgundy jacquard tie against a black shirt and black belt. Our complaint - poor shoe choice. Substituted for a black leather pointed toe with a gold buckle monk strap, and Mr. Degraw would have rocked the red carpet!

7. Joey Graceffa

Making his debut as comedic Youtube vlogger and parody maker, this multi-talented internet sensation was no laughing matter in his black open front, lapel-less blazer and black slacks at the AMAs. SImplicity was key in completing his look with a traditional white button down, brown belt and oxfords. Our recommendation - if doing this look, a printed belt or black belt with sheen (to match the shoes. Doing this will add visual interest, and take attention away from the black of the pant and the black of the blazer (which don't match) - making the look less formal.

7. Liam Payne and Louis Tomlison of One Direction

The British boys of One Direction pulled out there Sunday best for the AMAs. After taking home three awards that night (including Artist of The Year), who won best dressed of the evening?  Liam (far left), who sported a single-button shawl lapel blazer and leopard print button down with skinny jeans, and Louise (middle), who went for black - on black - on black with a double-breasted black jacket, black tie and black button down shirt. Topping the looks off with laceless dress boots, we applaud them for their stylish approach to the formal scene. (As for Niall, Zayne and Harry - maybe next AMAs).

6. Luke Bryan

This American country singer-songwriter took home the award for Favorite Male Artist sporting a great rendition of casual chic. Wearing a single-button, black and white mini dot blazer with peaked lapels, Bryan completes the look with a black button down and a slim fitting pear of dark wash jeans. He adds a subtle hint of luxe with a gold buckled black belt and black watch with a gold setting. Classy and casual - no objections here!

5. Sam Smith

Nominated for New Artist of The Year, Sam Smith had our vote donning a classy single-button midnight blue suit. Completing the look with a delphinium blue button down and heavy soled monk strap, Smith adds his own unique twist to your average Pop Star's formal dress code.

4. Terrence Jenkins

TV personality, model and host Terrence J went sleek and slim for the 2014 AMAs. Parading a purple/eggplant suit combo with a satin shawl lapel against a lavender button down, and accessorizing with a bow tie and oxfords, we like his contemporary approach to a tonal attire.

This well known R&B singer-songwriter definitely had heads turning in his eclectic blue ensemble. He's fully fashioned in a jacquard blazer over a blue button down, tie and flat front slacks. Topping his look off with a blue banned black fedora, black monk straps and a gold pocket square - let's face it - the man knows how to wear a suit!

2. Nick Jonas in Armani

When it comes to suits, there's one name that resounds far and wide - Armani. 90s Pop sensation now solo artist Nick Jonas proved he could bare the name in a double-breasted, pin stripe suit with a traditional white shirt and black tie. Definitely one of the best dressed of the night!

1.Donnie Wahlberg

American singer, actor and film producer Donnie Wahlberg took home the gold as #1 best dressed of the night! Simplicity serves him well as he models the red carpet decked out in a sleek Oxblood suit over a black shirt and tie. Put it all together with a pair of lace up oxfords and he's ready for the show. Definitely our favorite of the evening!
